The Moonee Valley Festival's Illuminate the River event

Updated: Nov 19, 2019

The Moonee Valley Festival came to a spectacular end on its last day with an afternoon and evening of art,

entertainment, live music, roving performers, pop-up activities for all ages and the grand finale on the river with the Illuminate the River water and laser show!

Headline performances for the event included the X Factor’s Isaiah Firebrace, Melbourne-based five-piece Dinner Suit Boogie, soul powerhouse Kattimoni, internationally renowned circus company Gravity & Other Myths, Trucked Up aerialist performers, and Melbourne-based all girl acoustic trio Harlow & Hart.

There was plenty on offer for kids with the ‘Beasties’ interactive show, the True Fairies storytelling, hula workshops and roving entertainers all afternoon.

The celebrations continued into the evening with the talented Djirri Djirri Dance Group who use dance as an interpretation of their culture to share stories about creation, family and Country.

The Illuminate the River show lit up the Maribyrnong river in a spectacular grand finale of the Moonee Valley Festival. The cold weather did not stop locals from lining the river bank to see Melbourne artist Christian Patton’s wooden sculpture being set alight and the fireworks display as a dramatic prelude to the spectacular water and laser show.

It was a pleasure to capture this event for the event organisers - Fruitbowl Productions.
