The Motley Hotel Hosts AFL Past Champions Lunch as Footy Fever Takes Over Melbourne!

The Motley, Melbourne’s newest boutique hotel (opened in March 2023) , is breathing new life into inner city Melbourne and is set to celebrate the 2023 AFL Finals Series in style with an AFL Past Champions Lunch on Thursday September 14.

The edgy, design-driven 80-room, 4 1⁄2-star boutique hotel on Richmond’s Bridge Road - located only a drop kick or two from the hallowed turf of the MC.G. is owned by former Richmond Under 19s player and decades-long Corporate Sponsor of The Tigers - Geoff Brady.

And to celebrate the new hotel’s first finals series in the heart of Tigerland - The Motley AFL Past Champions Lunch will feature past players from Richmond and Carlton Football Clubs - highlighting the rivalry between these two stalwart clubs throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

AFL Past Champions included: Neil Balme former Richmond champion and now Senior Club Advisor at Richmond, Dale “Flea Weightman”, Michael “Disco” Roach from the Richmond Football Club along with their arch rivals from Carlton - triple premiership player Jimmy Buckley and Norm Smith Medalist - David Rhys-Jones.

Positioned in the heart of bustling Bridge Road, The Motley is only a short walk or tram ride to all of Melbourne’s action and major venues including the MCG, Rod Laver and Olympic Parks.
